Monsters that are rarely seen, mages are flaming giants literally made of magical energy. They look similar to gargoyles and can stand up to 200 feet in height. Not only do they have access to every magic spell and buff on the list, the power they wield is far beyond what even the strongest spellcaster if capable of.

          The few times Mages actually did appear usually resulted in the destruction of everything around and the death of all the inhabitants within. Though most have vanished, the Sovereign Mage, the father of all mages, is known to reside on the highest peak of Oria and routinely grants magic to those who encounter it.

          Magic turns spellcasters into mages, which can in turn, create more spellcasters. The only way to stop this metamorphosis is for an Anti-Mage to remove the power from the spellcaster.
