Unlike spellcasters, Anti-Mages are born with their power, though it isn't a fluke they get it. The first Anti-Mages were imbued their power before they were born by Terra and Aurora, and they continue to create more to this day, but for all others, they gain their power if their mother comes into contact with an Anti-Mage during pregnancy. This isn't known yet, but research is ongoing.

Anti-Magic is the opposite of magic in many ways, right down to the mechanics of how it functions. Anti-Mages have small amounts of a mineral called crystalline circulating in their blood stream. Similar to the magnetic field of Earth, this circulation creates a field around the body of the anti-mage that protects them from any direct affect of any spell and in some cases, can stop the spellcaster from using magic in general. with practice, anti-magic can be tapped into and directed to various parts of the body for boosts or draining magic from spellcasters, and can often be used to amplify an anti-mage's attacks, which could create energy blasts or ignite the oxygen in the atmosphere.

Most of these abilities are very basic with little complexity, so anti-mages mostly rely on their increased speed, strength and reflexes in combat. And Anti-Mages are no slouches in this area; the fastest anti-mage on record could run close to speeds as fast as one sixth the speed of light and they are often strong enough to lift a house or destroy large boulders. This puts them at the same physical level as spellcasters, which forced them to adapt their fighting styles to better counter them. In recent years, spellcasters have developed strategies of using magic on the environment to attack anti-mages, or use magic to blind or distract them while they close in for the kill. Anti-Mages might be immune to the direct affects of magic, but the versatility of magic can more than make up the difference.
